Wildcat art contest for primary-age children within the Saving Wildcats project area (from Laggan up to Cromdale).
To mark the beginning of the third year of wildcat releases into the Cairngorms National Park, Saving Wildcats wants to see your beautiful wildcat artwork!
Paint, draw, sculpt, build, craft… Create your wildcat anyway you want!
Celebrated local artists Ann Vastano, Justin Prigmore and Angus Grant will be judging the three categories (P1-3, P4-5, P6-7) with Saving Wildcats’ senior animal keeper, Rachel Williams.
THE PRIZES (for each category)
1st Prize - Royal Zoological Society of Scotland family membership for one-year
(this includes year-round free entry to Highland Wildlife Park and Edinburgh Zoo for up to two adults and three children, as well as other member benefits!)
2nd Prize - Wildcat sponsorship
(Choose Margaret, Skye or Oscar as your very own wildcat for one year. You’ll receive a sponsorship pack about your wildcat and exclusive updates on them and their kittens)
3rd Prize - Family Discovery Pass to Highland Wildlife Park or Edinburgh Zoo
(this includes free entry for up to two adults and three children)
There will also be one overall winner chosen from all three categories who will name one of the wildcats due to be released into the wild this summer.
All winning entries will be displayed onsite at Highland Wildlife Park throughout the summer, until the end of the release period.
HOW TO ENTER
Send a clear, high resolution photo of your final masterpiece, with your name, age and first four letters of your postcode* to wildcats@rzss.org.uk before 12pm on 30 June 2025. We welcome one entry per child, which should be submitted by a parent or guardian.
If you'd like to send in physical pieces, just be sure to include a contact email or phone number. Please note, we cannot return artwork. Instead, they must be collected before 18 July 2025, or they will be recycled.
The winners will be announced on 11 July 2025. The team will be in touch via the email addresses used to submit the entries.
